Memorial Day: Remembering the Names Behind the Flags

At DX, we know how easy it is to get caught up in the rush of the job — the timelines, the dumpsters, the logistics. But on Memorial Day, we pause.

Not for a sale. Not for a long weekend.

But to remember.

This isn’t just a day off. It’s a day on — a day to carry the weight of names, faces, and families who’ve given the ultimate sacrifice in service to this country. People who had dreams, skills, and hometowns. People who left behind tools and timelines of their own.

One of Those Names Is Sgt. Alec Langen.

Alec grew up in Chandler, Arizona, just down the road from some of the job sites we serve. From a young age, he wanted to be a Marine — like his dad. He trained hard, served with excellence, and became a CH-53E helicopter crew chief based out of Miramar. His commitment to country was real. So was his smile. His grit. His future.

In early 2024, Alec was killed during a training flight. He had just married his wife, Casey, a few weeks before. His family now carries a folded flag — and the memory of a life lived with courage and conviction.

He was only 23.

And while his story might feel heavy, it’s just one of thousands. Each one matters. Each one should be remembered.

Memorial Day Is Personal — Not Just Patriotic.

At DX, we serve veterans, military families, and tradespeople who’ve spent time under the flag. We believe Memorial Day isn’t just a federal holiday — it’s a call to pause and remember the cost behind the freedom we all get to enjoy.
