How Many Dumpsters Does a Full Home Demo Need in Phoenix?

Full home demos in the Phoenix Valley generate more debris than most plans account for. Here’s a realistic rule of thumb based on DX jobsite experience.

A full home demo across the Phoenix area can range widely, but most projects land in the same band: 2 to 5 dumpsters, depending on the size of the home and how much concrete or block is involved.

On a typical 1,500–2,000 sq ft single-story demo, we often see:

  • Two 30-yard dumpsters for general debris — framing, drywall, insulation, cabinets, doors, roofing.
  • One 10-yard dumpster for concrete, block, or patio material.
  • Sometimes an additional 30-yard if there’s a lot of framing or bulky debris.

If you’re removing exterior block walls, large patios, or heavy landscaping, plan for extra 10-yard rotations. Arizona weight limits make that unavoidable with concrete, dirt, and rock.

The key is pacing: have the next dumpster scheduled before the first one is full. That’s how you keep your demo moving and avoid mid-day standstills.

Quick Summary

  • Most full home demos in Phoenix use 2–5 dumpsters in total.
  • A 1,500–2,000 sq ft demo often needs two 30-yard dumpsters plus one 10-yard for heavy materials.
  • Block walls, patios, or heavy landscaping debris typically require additional 10-yard rotations.
  • Scheduling swaps early keeps your demo from stalling mid-day.
